JUST DO IT! Between 6.30pm and 7.30 pm you have an opportunity to chat with other parents about your week, your stresses and your pressures as parents – most parents find this particularly beneficial as a way of letting go their frustrations with their teenagers before the more structured part of the course begins 7.30 – 9.30 is a more structured part of the evening – now its certainly not like school and some of the exercises make parents laugh out loud about the antics they got up to as teenagers (do you remember those?) and exactly what they did to their parents! Then we focus on how to deal with the new generation, their antics, behaviours, pressures and stresses. Most parents tell us that the course helps them in more parts of their lives than just with parenting, on surveys they have told us: What part of the course did you find most useful? - Understanding how my daughter feels
- Realising that I’m not the only person with the same issues
- The discussions in the group and recognising how much we shared in common problems
- Helping to understand my teenager
What learning will you put into practice in your work/home life most?
- To deal with a problem rather that try to ignore it
- Allow myself to show my vulnerability as well as strengths in parenting
- To stop thinking of what I want and more about my son’s needs
- Try to rebuild relationship with step-daughter
- Learning to stay calm, trust and give responsibility to my child
